Putting a Chamois Grip on a Hockey Stick
Scissors and PVC tape are the required materials to attach the chamois grip to the stick, and they can be applied in one of two ways. You have two choices for where to start: at the bottom or top of the hockey stick grip. It can be applied both ways with firm tension to properly maintain it.
Starting at the bottom of the hockey stick grip
- To secure the chamois to the hockey stick, cut two strips of hockey binding or PVC tape large enough to wrap around the top and bottom of the stick.
- As the hockey stick handle is near the end cap, begin to wrap the chamois grip around it. As you move, make sure your grips are slightly overlapping.
- When you reach the hockey stick’s end cap, use your nail to mark the chamois grip so you know where to cut the additional chamois.
- After cutting the chamois grip, the top section must be rewrapped, and then bind it to the stick’s end cap with a piece of pre-cut tape.
- Tape the bottom of the chamois grip to your hockey stick to make sure it is securely attached.
Starting at the Top of the Hockey Stick Grip
- Beginning at the top, wrap the chamois grip down to the original grip of the hockey stick,
- To attach the grip to the end of the stick, cut a single strip of binding or PVC tape. Begin wrapping the chamois grip around the shaft of the hockey stick, leaving a small overlap.
- You can get a tight fit without cutting the chamois grip by utilizing this technique. Once you’ve reached the end of the chamois grip, use the pre-cut tape to fasten it to the hockey stick.
- To keep your grip from falling off or weakening, apply the second piece of tape to the top of the chamois grip.
